Point cloud data has been used more and more in the last few years providing an unprecedented level of accuracy when it comes to existing buildings and tracking progress of new builds.

At Novum we work closely with SolidPoint who scan and produce accurate 3D architectural models of existing buildings to a clients spec. Working alongside SolidPoint we co-ordinate the 3D scanning process to also capture the existing MEP services. This process will give us point cloud data of the existing services enabling us to produce an accurate 3D As Built model in Revit or AutoCAD.

On refurbishment projects, a model of this accuracy is priceless as it will minimise risk and enable companies to quote the extent of their works with assurity knowing where the services are installed and what they are supplying, even down to what support bracketry will need to be removed or modified. Using this model as a base we can then co-ordinate new services around the existing and utilise Revit's phasing facility to produce strip out and installation drawings for our clients.
